Born in Poltava, Ukraine, Tatyana Parfionova moved to Leningrad when she was eight. As a child, she never dreamed of any professional career. "I just wanted to walk, pick flowers, and swim in the river," she remembers. In 1977, she graduated from the Leningrad school of Fine Art. Tatyana Parfionova was a head artist for the 'Fashion Theatre' in 1988. In two years, Parfionova graduated from the Moscow Institute of Technology and three years later started her own fashion business, opening a boutique on Nevsky Prospect in 1995. Today Tatyana Parfionova is a brand that defines Russian fashion design. Every season a team of more than 50 artisans produces two collections: Tatyana Parfionova (couture) and White by Parfionova (pret-a-porter). All garments are handmade and individually crafted from fabrics of the highest quality. The result is custom-designed apparel that is elegant, fashionable and artistic. According to Frommer's Review: "Arguably St. Petersburg's most famous fashion designer, Parfionova creates unforgettable, original clothes and accessories. Her shows are the hottest ticket in town and her pieces are displayed in the Russian Museum. For something you definitely won't find at home, stop at her boutique."
