Ukrainian Fashion Week
Ukrainian Fashion Week founded at 1997 became the first prêt-à-porter event in Eastern Europe. It takes place twice a year and fully meets global standards of prêt-à-porter fashion weeks. The event showcases collections of more than 60 participating designers, accredits around 200 Ukrainian and international media and gathers over 20,000 guests.
Ukrainian Fashion Week main venue is a building of Mystetskyi Arsenal that is an architectural monument, built during 1783-1801. Since 2005, 12,000 square meters of the building are used for art projects and events. Today, Arsenal is a heart of Ukrainian modern fashion and culture.
Womenswear design is leading in Ukrainian fashion industry since foundation of the Ukrainian Fashion Week back in 1997. Ukrainian womenswear designers are moving force of fashion, they shaped national industry and international fashion image of Ukraine.
Ukrainian designer menswear is gaining momentum. More and more of Ukrainian designers create menswear lines, new menswear brands appear rapidly, contributing to fashion industry through development of classic menswear and creating new menswear trends.
Since 2003, UFW has launched special projects for scouting new talents – New Names and Fresh Fashion. Projects were created to seek out and promote young gifted youth. Over the years it has provided a constant influx of fresh blood into Ukrainian fashion and gained a reputation of springboard for new talents.
Ukrainian Fashion Week, apart from being seasonal event, is a driving force of the fashion industry in Ukraine. It initiates and organizes the most influential cultural and international fashion projects connected with fashion shows, exhibition spaces, supporting young designers, awarding the best talents in the industry. It works in the fields of fashion education, and fashion development, also covering the spheres of fashion-video and fashion-illustration. Ukrainian Fashion Week projects have powerful support of media in Ukriane, and each of them is an advertising card of the Ukrainian fashion development.
Ukrainian Fashion Week is extensively covered by all representatives of Ukrainian and international media – from daily newspapers to professional fashion magazines, and their web-sites. TV coverage is broadcasted through all major television channels. Total number of media accredited for each season amounts to more than 200.
