Bright is an original fashion trade event, which conveys a snapshot of modern lifestyle within an atmosphere relevant to its target groups. Since fashion is in constant motion, its predominant influences such as art, music and sports are therefore decisive regarding the resulting trends and how they get perceived - whereat credibility always has and will be the essential element to it.
Back at Berlin’s Arena, this summer’s 23rd edition of BRIGHT was all about content – and about the culture surrounding our brands and exhibitors. The fact that, apart from Streetwear, skateboarding is and remains an important part of the BRIGHT universe was impossible to miss this time around – simply because we took it all over town. Whereas Volcom’s massive, three-day “Three Streets To Berlin” contest took world-class riders from legendary spots such as Nationalgalerie to tourist venues, the week began with the official opening of the all-new concrete DSS obstacles just around the corner from our show. 24 hours later, the official BRIGHT opening was another joint event with DC, who once again turned a club into a proper skate venue. And finally, there were plenty more sessions and things like a fun little jump ramp contest to round things off – turning Berlin once again into a temporary mecca that attracted some of the best international skaters.
Whereas the visitors of BRIGHT XXIII got to experience a carefully RECAP handpicked portfolio of more than 250 brands – featuring new exhibitors such as Volcom, New Balance Numeric, Nikita, Defend Paris, and PAX, plus some of the most current core companies such as Polar, DQM, and Quasi –, the latest edition of BRIGHT once again boasted a huge selection of side events that ranged from art shows and screenings to music and, last but not least, a series of talks hosted by Drago from Italy. Topped off with the Sneakerspot, a new addition which was open to end consumers as well, and additional party highlights such as the SEEK/BRIGHT/Highsnobiety night “The Off”, the last couple of days easily proved that the BRIGHT and SEEK alliance has established itself as Europe’s main hub for Streetwear and Contemporary Men’s Fashion. We’re looking forward to No. 24!
