Backbone collection consist of ready-to-wear clothing sets for women. The main element of inspiration of the collection was bluish wax sculptures with double spine by Belgian artist Berlinde de Bruyckere. Vertebrae are reproduced in apparel as saliences, simulating bone transformation into design elements. Impact of art installations in the premises which blend, growing into the environment, merging into one, - in the development of the collection the fusion was built with shadow areas on the garments, developing shadow element in structures and detail. Cleanliness of from and aesthetics of the areas characterize the volume of collection and colour tonality.
An individually crafted fabric is designed for the collection, it is the author’s technique – with spatially salient circles on the surface, creating a relief fabric pattern, reproducing the vertebrae and idea of an implant. Arrangement and correspondence of cut parts with the elements in the room, creating contemporary shapes, using compliance of conditions of wearable clothing design, transforming unwearable clothing into wearable details.
Collection Backbone was shown in Honk Hong, participate on International Fashion Design Competition - Fashion Future for Hong Kong 2016. Collection won Best of Pret-a-Porter Award and Champion dignity.
